JOB SUMMARY: The Auto Technician Trainer is a positive, energetic team player dedicated to the success and development of Belle Tire employees. This position is responsible for training Belle Tire employees in a variety of positions, but primarily Tire Technicians, Alignment Technicians and Automotive Technicians. When not conducting classes, the Trainer acts as a consultant and coach by visiting stores and providing our employees with expertise and guidance during repair and maintenance procedures. The Auto Tech Trainer also manages the training center ensuring that the facility and all equipment are safe, secure, and in good working order. This position is a key part of Belle Tire's Training Team and works closely with the team to design and develop high quality learning experiences for our employees. The Auto Technical Trainer also partners with the Retail Operations team to ensure that training meets their needs. Persons in this role must be state certified, where applicable (State of MI/ not applicable in Ohio or Indiana), and hold current certifications in ASE areas A1 -A8.


Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conducts face-to-face training programs for Belle Tire employees that consist of 10-20% lecture and 80-90% hands on activities
  • Ensures that trainees follow proper safety procedures at all times during training
  • Verifies proper diagnosis and repair of all customer vehicles brought to training center for repair
  • Interacts with customers who bring their vehicles to the training facility for repair by explaining diagnosis and needed repairs
  • Processes sales through the Point of Sale (POS) system
  • Orders parts as needed to complete repairs
  • Acts as subject matter expert for the Training team, providing content, reviewing materials, and participating in beta and pilot reviews
  • Conducts and/or participates in train-the-trainer activities
  • Evaluates the transfer of skills and knowledge back to the job after training
  • Visits stores to coach employees during vehicle maintenance and repair procedures
  • Partners with the Directors of Retail Operations to identify and address needs in assigned communities
  • Supports, follows, and promotes Belle Tire policies and procedures
  • Maintains training facilities and equipment
  • Maintains a safe learning environment
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Training
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Basic Qualifications
  • State of Michigan Master Mechanic Certification (if working in Michigan)
  • ASE Master Certification A1-A8
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness to relocate
  • Willingness to travel to stores within assigned region

  • Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED is required
  • Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years of automotive repair experience
Physical Demands:
  • The ability to be on your feet for long periods of time
  • The ability to safely lift of up to 75 pounds to chest level
  • Bending, twisting, grabbing, reaching and any other activity normally associated with an Automotive Mechanic position

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience conducting formal automotive training in a classroom/workshop setting
  • Two or four year degree in an automotive or training-related field

Working Conditions: Varying work hours, Mon-Fri, some additional time may be required. Workshop environment, with heavy physical requirements: long periods of standing on your feet, lifting up to 75 pounds to chest level, bending, twisting, grabbing, and reaching.
